Understanding Hiair tokens: what one credit actually buys you

Tokens are the only thing a Hiair plan meters. Here's exactly what spends one, what never does, and what happens when your balance hits zero.

Every Hiair account, free or paid, has a token balance. It's the one number on the pricing page that actually matters, so it's worth being precise about what it is.

A token pays for one thing: a submitted application

The agent spends a token at exactly one moment — when it actually clicks submit on an application form, whether that happens because you approved a match in Copilot or because Autopilot reached the next one in its run. Nothing else touches the balance.

That means the following are all free, on every plan, including the free one:

• Searching the marketplace and scoring new matches against your profile
• Reading and reviewing a match before you decide
• Generating a tailored resume draft and editing it
• Writing a cover letter
• Interview prep

You can browse as many roles as you want, tailor as many drafts as you want, and read the whole company index without spending anything. The balance only moves at the point of submission.

Where the free tokens come from

New accounts start with a small number of free tokens, no card required — enough to see the whole loop work end to end before deciding whether to pay for more volume. See the current free-tier count and the paid plans on Pricing.

Copilot and Autopilot spend the same way

The two modes described on Copilot vs Autopilot don't have different pricing logic. In Copilot, skipping a match costs nothing — the token is only deducted on the applications you actually approve. In Autopilot, you set a target number of applications and the agent submits toward it, spending one token per submission along the way, without loosening the match filters on your profile to get there faster.

What happens when you run out

The agent won't submit an application it can't pay for. If your balance hits zero mid-search, it stops before sending anything and shows you a dialog to add tokens or upgrade instead of silently skipping the application or, worse, submitting one you'll be charged for later. Nothing goes out under your name that you didn't have the balance to cover.

Plans differ in balance, not in features

It's worth saying plainly: every plan on Pricing runs the exact same product. Resume tailoring, the agent's own job search, cover letters, and the application tracker aren't locked behind a higher tier. A bigger plan buys a bigger token balance on a shorter refill schedule — it does not unlock a better version of the agent. If you're trying to decide which plan to start on, the only real question is how many applications a week you actually want sent, not which plan does more.
